Deck the Doors winners announced in Langley

Sarah Diers is the lucky Deck the Doors voter who won the Langley Main Street Association raffle.

A crowd of 100-plus people anticipated the drawing of the winning white ticket from the Langley Chamber of Commerce and the announcement of the winner of the Deck the Doors contest that was sponsored by the South Whidbey Record and Langley Main Street Association.

Sweet Mona’s received the most votes for best door and won $200 in cash from Langley Main Street Association and $300 of advertising from the Record. Mona Newbauer, the owner of Sweet Mona’s, had hung a tree on her door and decorated it with battery-operated lights and candy. It was so popular that somebody stole some of the candy off the display during the contest period. Yet, this set-back did not keep people from voting.

Sarah Diers was the lucky voter who was drawn from the many participants. She walked away with a basket full of goodies from Langley businesses.

For the second year in a row, Good Cheer received the $1,000 from the chamber sponsored by Whidbey Island Bank.
