More games at Houdini’s pool hall

Houdini’s Billiards now has big screen TVs for sports fans to watch sports while they play a game of pool.

The pool hall also offers half-price play for students any day of the week before 6 p.m., free lessons for seniors on Sundays and a place for parties and special events. Women play for half price all day on Thursday.

For those wanting to improve their game, Mike “Houdini” Dolan himself is teaching one-on-one lessons for $30 or $40 for couples.

Houdini’s also has cribbage tournament boards for those who want to take a break from pool.

Inn starts serving dinners Thursdays

When mid-June rolls around, it’s time for The Inn at Langley to kick off its Thursday night dinners.

This year, despite summer’s absenteeism, Chef Matt Costello has begun serving on Thursday nights in addition to his weekend services.

Known for using ingredients local to the island, Costello’s menus feature items such as local fiddlehead ferns, nettles and an abundance of wild seafood and local meats.

Through Labor Day, dinner at The Inn at Langley will be served Thursday through Saturday with an exclusive six-course Chef’s Menu changing weekly for $85 per person.

Unlike most restaurants, The Inn at Langley features one seating which begins with Costello sharing the inspiration behind the menu and a discussion of where the ingredients came from.

Costello will explain that it adds the “flavor of the culture” on South Whidbey and the idea of using local products is making its way into the culinary main stream.
