Library Web site gets facelift
The Sno-Isle Regional Library System has given its Web site a facelift.
According to a press release from the library system, the new site is designed to make Web browsing fun, easy and educational. Special features include a good books and readers resources page, an Ask the Librarian query area, a Just for Kids page, and a list of librarian-preferred Web sites.
The Web site address is www.sno-isle.org.
Sno-Isle operates three libraries on South Whidbey, one each in Freeland, Langley and Clinton.
College offers grant-writing class
Do you have an organization that could could qualify for grant money, but lacks someone on staff with the expertise to get that cash?
On Tuesday, Nov. 6, Skagit Valley Colleges Business Resource Center will hold a grant-writing seminar at its downtown center in Mount Vernon. The seminar is geared toward students, administrators of nonprofit agencies, school district personnel, community development groups, and others interested in the fundraising process.
The course will include information on funding sources, the grant-writing process, budget development, evaluations, funding plans, foundations and federal and state solicitation. Joseph Garcia, an experienced grant-writer, will teach the seminar. The fee for the all-day event is $70.
The seminar starts at 8 a.m. at 204 W. Montgomery in Mount Vernon and continues until 5 p.m.

Realtors donate to relief effort
The Whidbey Island Association of Realtors recently donated $1,000 to The National Association of Realtors Housing Relief Fund to help pay the mortgage and rental costs of the families devastated by the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Washington State Realtors have donated more than $69,000 to date and nationally there has been more than $7,100,000 donated to the fund.
All of the funds collected will be distributed to families in need.
