Admiral heads Whidbey Institute

"Ron Admiral of Clinton has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of Whidbey Institute, taking over from Fritz Hull, whose new title is Founding Director.The institute's board announced the decision July 17. Admiral is a native of Oak Harbor who moved to upstate New York shortly after graduating from the University of Washington in 1973. There he took a position as gardener at Camphill Village, part of an international human services organization.Over the years, while raising four children with wife Deborah, Admiral advanced to executive director in 1986. For the next 13 years he was responsible for operations, fund-raising and leadership for the residential community of 225 adults, half of whom had developmental disabilities.Admiral has long been active in the international Camphill movement and in Waldorf education. Since returning to Whidbey Island in 1999, Admiral has served the Whidbey Island Waldorf School as development and administrative consultant. He will begin his new duties at the Whidbey Institute in September. "
