Clinton resident wins Whidbey Telecom's cover art competition
Clinton photographer Sandy Rubini won the Whidbey Telecom Directory Cover Art Contest with her original work, “Heather Meadows Staircase.” Rubini’s photograph will be featured on the 2013-14 Whidbey Telecom phonebook directory. The directory will be published in November.
“We want to extend our appreciation to all the artists and photographers who submitted their work for consideration in this year’s competition,” said co-CEO, Julia H. DeMartini. “The quality of work submitted was fantastic and it’s always a challenge to narrow down the entries to a single piece. We’re very fortunate to be surrounded by such a talented and creative community of artists.”
Rubini will receive $500 and her photograph will be featured on the cover of approximately 15,000 directories throughout South Whidbey, Hat Island and Point Roberts, Wash.
The judging panel included Whidbey Telecom’s chairperson, Marion F. Henny, and co-CEO, Julia H. DeMartini. Two independent members of the art community, Rene Neff and Rick Collar, also participated in judging the entries.
“We are pleased that this year’s directory cover will represent a wonderful artistic vision and help make our directory cover a beautiful work of art. We look forward to this process every year and can’t wait for Sandy Rubini’s photo to grace our cover,” said DeMartini.
