Wine-tasting shop in the works
A cooperative venture by three local wineries is set to open later this summer in Bayview.
Goosefoot Community Fund is in the final stages of negotiating a lease for a tasting room at Bayview Corner with Blooms Winery of Holmes Harbor, Swede Hill Cellars of Scatchet Head and Spoiled Dog Winery of Langley.
“These are Whidbey Island growers and winemakers who believe that by sharing the cost, they’ll get a wider exposure for their hand-crafted wines,” said Goosefoot’s Debbie Torget.
But first, the owners need to get a liquor license. On July 13, Kenneth and Virginia Bloom will appear before Island County commissioners on behalf of their application to sell alcohol; the other owners will do the same.
The tasting room will be located in a space on the lower level previously occupied by Half Link Bicycle Shop and an art gallery.
“All of us at Goosefoot and the other retailers here appreciate their enthusiasm and look forward to welcoming them to Bayview,” Torget said.
