Whidbey Island Winery will host a casual and informative evening of demystifying the preposterous prose found on the back labels of wines, and those found in wine reviews, as well.

The event is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 at the winery.

Guests at the gathering will learn a little bit about "wine-speak" and how to find wines that suit their tastes. There will also be tasting and tidbits to help in the search for flavors.

Tickets are $20 but seating is limited; call the winery at 221-2040 to reserve a place.

The winery is located at 5237 Langley Road, Langley. Visit www.whidbeyislandwinery.com for more information.
