Howard Burton of Langley has moved his antique business from downtown Langley to Freeland.
Burton is the owner of Merlin’s Antiques and Curiosities, now located at the Red Rooster Antique Mall.
“I decided I wanted to be more retired, and not have to be on-site all the time,” Burton said. “I want to stay small. I just want to do it as a hobby.”
An antique collector for 20 years, Burton offers vintage toys, model planes, boats, posters and pictures, along with a collection of telescopes, microscopes and other scientific equipment, and swords.
“It’s basically guy stuff,” he said.
He said he recently sold a sword from the Civil War, and a 1918 German military officer’s blade.
Burton, a retired engineer with the Department of Defense, has lived on South Whidbey for more than two years.
The Red Rooster Antique Mall is at 1635 Main St. in Freeland. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, call 331-0150.
