A new auto restoration business, Serious Auto Body, recently opened in Freeland. It’s the second auto body and collision repair business for owners Dee and Wiesje Baskerville.

Serious Auto Body works on all makes or models for scratch, dent and general collision repair. The business also offers automotive cleaning and detailing services. A special focus of the new enterprise is full-body classic car restoration with high quality paint work.

“We are finding many car collectors on the island have project cars in varying states of restoration. Word is getting around that we can expedite the restoration process,” Dee Baskerville said.

“Additionally, we offer auto detailing services for clients who appreciate thoroughness in automotive cleaning and want the best possible paint finish on their cars,” Baskerville added.

Some of the more fun cars going through the restoration process include a ’56 T-Bird, a ’59 Triumph TR-3, a ‘56 Chevy and ’62 and ’73 Corvettes.

Dee and Wiesje Baskerville moved to Whidbey Island to escape the traffic and noise of Seattle. They are bringing years of experience to their new business in Freeland.

In 1994, the Baskervilles opened Autohound Collision Center in Seattle, one of the largest auto body collision repair facilities in the Puget Sound region. They said they will depend on their good management crew at Autohound to run that business so they can focus on their new Freeland enterprise.

“We feel we are in the right place at the right time. The housing business is booming and several of the building contractors who live and work on the island are car collectors. Many of the island’s newest residents are looking for the experience and quality we offer. Word of mouth is really working for us,” says Wiesje Baskerville.
