There’s still time to get your house on the next Hearts & Hammers repair list.

The volunteer nonprofit organization annually assists homeowners who are physically or financially unable to do needed work themselves. More than 400 volunteers spread out across the South End on a one-day cleanup and repair blitz.

This year’s workday will be Saturday, May 7. The deadline for getting a house on the list is Monday, Jan. 31.

Hearts & Hammers has been going strong for 18 years. Last year represented more than 4,500 volunteer hours. The group also offers emergency repair throughout the year by its Home Emergency Action Repair Team (HEART).

To apply for help, or to volunteer, visit www.heartsandhammers.com or write to Hearts & Hammers, PO Box 694, Langley, WA 98260. Or call 221-6063 and leave a message, and a volunteer will return your call within a few days.
