South Whidbey Soroptimists are reminding islanders to mark their calendars for April 6, National Start Walking Day.

Soroptimists support the American Heart Association, and challenge all Whidbey residents to wear their sneakers to work and play, and to walk 30 minutes. Volunteers with the Soroptimists’ Heart of a Woman Program note that inactivity can increase the risk of heart disease.
