Freeland resident celebrates 102nd birthday

Martha Bergmann, a resident of Freeland since 2000, celebrated her 102nd birthday on Friday, March 25.

The “official” birthday party with family and friends was on Sunday, March 27 at the home she shares with her daughter Barbara Bergmann and son-in-law Bruce Morris. Music was provided by Kristi O’Donnell and Keith Bowers after a luncheon and birthday cake was served.

Martha Bergmann is originally from New Jersey, and before moving here permanently visited regularly after her grandson Evan Derickson was born on Whidbey in 1990. She is a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church.
