Volunteers offer free help on taxes
April 1, 2011 · Updated 7:18 AM
Free tax help will be available through April 14 from Whidbey Island IRS/AARP counselors.
Tax aides have been certified by the IRS, and will assist filers of low and moderate incomes at three locations: 1 to 6 p.m. Thursdays at the South Whidbey Senior Center in Bayview; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at the Coupeville Library; and 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the Oak Harbor Library.
Those seeking help should bring tax papers. No forms are needed to file electronically. Amended tax reports and prior years can also be processed. Organizers of the free help program said they have helped more than 500 people in the community with tax assistance in the past five weeks.
