The community is invited to honor our veterans and their families at an open house at the Veterans Resource Center in Freeland on Memorial Day.

The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 30. A short program is scheduled for 3 p.m. The center is located at 1796 Main St. in Freeland.

A room will be set aside at the center for quiet reflection.  Attendees are encouraged to bring photographs, notes, poems or other mementos they would like to place in this room during the event to add to the community remembrance.

The Veterans Resource Center is a nonprofit educational and charitable corporation. Its mission is to promote community-based efforts to heal the effects of war on veterans, their families and communities.

The Memorial Day event is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. For further information, contact the VRC at 321-8081.
