Henry “Hank” and Doris “Dottie” Houghtaling celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this week.

The couple married July 14, 1941 in Greenbank.

Hank was in the Army when they spent most of the years of their marriage traveling. He retired in 1964 from his service as a major, and they returned to Whidbey Island where their love began. They relocated to Anacortes where they reside today.

They enjoy living close to their two children and their spouses, Cliff and Penney Houghtaling of Oak Harbor and Sharon and Jim Nielsen of Anacortes.

The couple have been blessed with two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren, and said their 70 years have brought them much joy. They look forward to each day together, the couple said.
