July 26, 2011 · Updated 3:27 PM
Mark Vance of Island Transit is the winner of the local 2011 Bus Roadeo.
Vance, an Oak Harbor resident who drives bus routes all over the island, will represent Island Transit at the Washington State Bus Roadeo.
Eligibility requirements for the competition are based on establishing positive reinforcement for operators who are sincerely dedicated to providing the best service, courtesy and safety to Island Transit customers.
The “roadeo” is sponsored by WSDOT, Washington State Transit Association, and Washington State Transit Insurance Pool. The course is based on 10 problem areas encountered on a daily basis and uses a seven-minute, scored event to test driving skills and safety training.
