Volunteers with the Langley Community Club will gather on Sunday to make the stuff that dreams are made of: trophies for the winners in this year’s Soup Box Derby.

The annual non-motorized race down Langley’s First Street hill is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

Helpers are needed to create the unique trophies for the winners. A trophy-making party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at Tucker Steven’s house at 426 Third St. Organizers said glue guns, spray paint, odds and ends and Band-Aids will be provided.

Entry forms for the 2011 Soup Box Derby are available at Langley City Hall and the Langley Chamber of Commerce office.

For details, email Stevens at tucker@whidbey.com or call 221-4188.
