Local bridge players will lay their cards down on the table to help out charities across Whidbey Island.

The Fall Charity Duplicate Bridge Tournament begins Thursday, Sept. 29 and runs for eight weeks through Nov. 17. Organizers of the tournament are looking for players who want to join in the fun.

The tournament will support local charities such as Whidbey Island Improvement Foundation, Good Cheer and Whidbey General Hospital. The fees are $10 for charity and $10 for prizes and supplies.

Play will start at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at Useless Bay Golf & Country Club. Weekly scores are cumulative and the top three scores at the end of eight weeks share the prize money.

Interested players can call Roberta Tarr at 579-4688 or Maggie Stern at 331-5475.
