October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Leah Oman and nurse Renee Yanke will speak and answer questions on the topic next week at the Bayview Senior Center.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and a significant number of men as well, according to Whidbey General Hospital.

Oman is a WGH surgeon with a specialty certification in breast surgery. Yanke is the oncology program manager and an oncology nurse practitioner at Whidbey General.

The free lecture is at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the senior center.
