St. Augustine’s in-the-Woods Episcopal Church will host the seventh annual “Blessed be the Peace Makers” event to remember Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 16 at the church in Freeland.

The featured speaker will be Ora Houston from Austin, Texas. Houston’s focus has been “giving voice to people who are not invited to the table and protecting the rights of all who are forced to the margins of our community.”

The service will feature interactive readings of the “Freedom Rides” of 1961 and music of the Civil Rights Movement, led by Karl Olsen.

Complimentary sandwiches will be served before the service from noon to 12:45 p.m.

Childcare will be provided. Families and youth are encouraged to attend.

The church is at 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road.
