'Cultivating Habits of the Heart' at UUCWI

January 26, 2012 · Updated 6:14 AM

Guest speaker Jeanne Strong will speak about her work with the Center for Courage and Renewal at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday. This work is based on Parker Palmer's premise that to heal what's currently ailing our democracy, we must begin with our own hearts.

Strong is an educator and retreat facilitator who is currently involved in developing an early learning center in rural Uganda. The daughter of a Unitarian Universalist Congregation minister, while growing up she experienced many cultures and family values focused on spiritual development and social responsibility.  Strong is a member of Whidbey's Quaker Community.

All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for more information.
