Chocolates By George! wins more hot and tasty awards | KUDOS
Chocolates by George! added another award to its growing list of accolades with a third-place finish at the ZestFest “Fiery Foods Challenge” in Arlington, Texas in January. This is the fourth consecutive year one of George’s creations has made the top three at ZestFest.
This is the second award for the “Skyrockets in Flight” truffle, which was awarded a second-place award at the Hot Pepper Awards “Best of 2011,” and the “Fiery Food Challenge” last year.
“It is wonderful to be honored again,” said George Brunjes, owner and creator of Chocolates By George!
“I take great pleasure in finding new ways to tempt people’s taste buds.”
Since first entering these three competitions in 2008, Brunjes has been awarded four first-place awards and 17 second- or third-place finishes. This is in addition to other awards he has won on a national level.
Chocolates by George! will be having his truffles featured by three local wineries as part of the Whidbey Island Vintner Association’s two-week Red Wine & Chocolate event today and tomorrow, and Feb. 18 to 20. He will be making the Syrah truffle for Holmes Harbor Cellars in Greenbank, a Loganberry Ballini for Greenbank Farms, and a bacon truffle and port wine truffle for Whidbey Island Winery in Langley.
New truffles are in the works for St. Patrick’s day with an Irish twist.
