Two South Whidbey High School Jazz Ensemble members took home awards at the Bellevue College Jazz Festival.

Two South Whidbey High School Jazz Ensemble members won solo awards at the recent Bellevue College Big Band Jazz Festival on Feb. 5 and 6 in which 16 schools were represented.

Rudi Hamsa, 17, won for his solo performance of “Revenge of Count Bubba” on the baritone saxophone. Sidney Hauser, 17, won the alto saxophone solo award for her featured arrangement and performance of “Georgia on My Mind.”

The Bellevue College Jazz Festival is the most competitive regional jazz festival in the Puget Sound area.
