South Whidbey High School senior Sidney Hauser has been selected by the Whidbey Jazz Society as a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be sent directly to the college of Hauser’s choice. Hauser made waves in February at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho when she won first place in the alto saxophone soloist category for her performance of “When Sunny Gets Blue.” She also shared kudos with the rest of the South Whidbey High School jazz band, which took first place in its Division A category at the festival.
