The Whidbey Island Conservation District hosted its Annual Open House on May 10, at the Coupeville Library. Six awards were given to honor people who have made outstanding efforts and contributions to the District.

Awards included Heni Barnes, for Conservation Student of the Year; Kevin Zobrist for Outstanding Partner - WSU Forest Stewardship Program; the Swanson Family Farm and the Glendale Shepherd Dairy’s Stan and Lynn Swanson for Outstanding Volunteer, Cooperator and Partner; the Frei Family Tree Farm in Langley for the Everell “Duke” LeBaron Land Steward Award; and Ken Drecksel for Outstanding Employee.

The award ceremony was followed by an overview of the WICD Work Plan and Budget for 2013.
