Ciscoe broadcasts live from Bayview Farm and Garden
Whidbey Island is a gardener’s delight and so is gardening guru Ciscoe Morris.
The television and radio personality will bring his boundless enthusiasm for all things green to Bayview Farm and Garden on Saturday, June 30, when he will do his weekly radio show “Gardening with Ciscoe” live from Whidbey Island.
“This is the fourth time he’s been here, but the first time he’s done his radio show here,” said Maureen Murphy, owner of Bayview Farm and Garden. “He’ll be here from 10 a.m. to noon, so if people want to come out and watch the show and ask questions, they can join in with that.”
Murphy, who has known Morris for years, will join him for part of the program. She said he is a genuinely nice, fun guy, which is good for the gardening industry.
“He’s great for our industry,” she said. “It definitely draws people in, which is good for business and good for his radio show to be out among real gardeners and people who are enthusiastic about it.
“We have a lot of enthusiastic gardeners on Whidbey,” Murphy continued. “We’re kind of ground zero.”
Because the weekly farmers market will be going on at the same time as the live radio broadcast, Murphy said parking could be tricky. She said they have permission to use the Whidbey Telecom parking lot for overflow and there is parking at Bayview School.
Morris is known for his gardening segments with Meeghan Black on KING-5 television and his Friday night question and answer show “Gardening with Ciscoe Live” on Northwest Cable News. His weekly radio show airs on News Talk 97.3, KIRO-FM. His book, “Ask Ciscoe,” was among the top selling garden books nationwide.
Combine his appeal with a popular Whidbey Island activity and anything could happen.
“I’m not sure exactly what will happen because there will be a certain level of pandemonium out there,” Murphy said. “But it will be fun and casual. The point is to have a lot of fun.”
