In the spirit for a writing contest?

Whidbey Island Writers Association announces the 2012 Spirit of Writing Contest. Writers 18 and older may submit manuscripts in any of the following categories: poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction/essay, memoir and children’s literature. Writers may enter more than a single category.

Rules and entry forms are available at spiritofwriting@writeonwhidbey.org or the Sno-Isle branch libraries in Oak Harbor, Coupeville, Freeland, Langley and Clinton.

Manuscripts may be submitted in hard copy at any of the Whidbey Island libraries, mailed to the WIWA office, P.O. Box 639, Freeland, WA 98249, or online.

Contest deadline is Saturday, Oct. 8 at the end of working hours at the libraries, postmarked Aug. 15 to Oct. 8 for mail-in entries, and dated Aug. 15 to Oct. 8 for online entries.
