RELIGION NOTES | Ballot initiative forum set

October 19, 2012 · Updated 3:21 PM

The 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 service at Langley United Methodist Church will include a ballot initiative forum hosted by the Church and Society Committee, beginning at 11 a.m. Short, informative presentations will be given for each of the eight initiatives in the upcoming election.

Church leaders say this is not an attempt to persuade people to vote in a certain way. The goal is to understand the intent of each initiative and the implications of a vote for or against it.

Sources of information include the Faith Action Network, the union of the Washington Association of Churches and the Lutheran Public Policy Office. The forum will be held in the Fireside room. During the same service, there will be an offering of letters for Bread For the World, a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad.

Langley UMC is located at Third and Anthes in Langley. Call 221-4233 for information.
