Volunteer award nominees sought for Island County Coastal award

January 11, 2013 · Updated 2:52 PM

Every year, hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service, science and outreach in support of Island County’s marine environment.

The Island County Marine Resources Committee and WSU Beach Watchers partnered to establish an award to recognize this contribution of volunteer service and leadership. They created the annual Jan Holmes Island County Coastal Volunteer of the Year Award, open to any citizen of Island County.

A committee reviews nominations submitted by the public. Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.islandcountymrc.org, or printed forms are available at the WSU Extension office in Coupeville. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 24. One individual is chosen and the award is presented on Feb. 2 at the annual Sound Waters University.
