The honor of South Whidbey’s First Baby of 2013 goes to little Tristan Diffie, born Jan. 4 at Whidbey General Hospital and tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 5 ounces.

His dad, Tyson Diffie, is a firefighter for Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue, and his mom, Leah Kalahiki, works at Les Schwab and is a volunteer firefighter for South Whidbey Fire/EMS.

Tristan joins two siblings in the family, Ashton, 8, and Nicole, 10, both of whom attend South Whidbey schools.

The family lives in Freeland and received a free one-year subscription to the South Whidbey Record as their first baby prize.
