Time to share the love at the Hearts and Hammers’ yearly spaghetti dinner and volunteer kick-off held Friday, Feb. 15.
The dinner will be at the Langley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children and attendees can enjoy all the spaghetti they want, including regular and gluten-free noodles, salad and dessert.
Raffle tickets will be available for the garden-themed quilt made by former board member and longtime volunteer, Marcia Wiley. Tickets sell for $5 each or 5 for $20. Drawing will be held at the end of the work day in May.
Hearts and Hammers’ mission is to bring needed repairs to homeowners who physically or financially are unable to complete the work alone.
There is no cost to the homeowners, thanks to community donations, volunteers and in-kind donations of material from local lumber yards and supply retailers.
Volunteers give one day of their lives, together with hundreds of other volunteers from across this community, to help many South Whidbey neighbors with much needed repairs.
This work day is one of the largest community efforts to help repair homes for Whidbey’s families, the elderly and the disabled. The experience helps build a sense of community camaraderie and compassion in giving neighbors a helping hand.
The annual spaghetti dinner is the beginning of the volunteer sign-up; bring neighbors and community together to enjoy an evening of music and hearty food and friends.

Volunteers of all levels, from the highly skilled to the unskilled, but willing to work are welcome to sign up for the workday the first Saturday in May.
