Relay for Life to march on South Whidbey
June 10, 2008 · Updated 5:49 PM
Relay For Life is just around the corner.
This year marks the American Cancer Society’s 12th Relay For Life of South Whidbey.
The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 20 at the track at South Whidbey High School and runs through 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21.
Friday evening’s formal ceremonies include the Survivors Walk and dinner, and a late night candle lit luminary ceremony to honor those lost to cancer.
Committee members have this year’s relay jammed with events for the family, including a silent auction and the Jail Bail fundraiser. Carnival events are scheduled for Saturday. Music and games continue all through the night to keep up the spirit — and the walkers.
Call Virginia Bloom if you are interested in being on a team or forming a team for this year’s relay at 331-3132. Call Angela Vosburg at 331-1800 if you are interested in helping to sponsor the event. Contact Peter Andersen at pba@whidbey.com for information or to volunteer to help the relay.
