Church considers Christ labor model | Religion notes

For this Labor Day weekend, the Christian Science congregation urges people to consider one model for the purpose of labor, Christ Jesus.

"From early boyhood he was about his 'Father's business.' Jesus did his own work by the one Spirit. He said: 'My Father worketh hitherto, and I work' … Jesus acted boldly, against the accredited evidence of the senses, against Pharisaical creeds and practices, and he refuted all opponents with his healing power" (Science and Health).

Everyone is welcome at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 Christian Science service that looks at how Jesus incorporated the spiritual into his teaching and work on Earth and how people can follow his teaching to make each day one of purposeful, productive and harmonious employment.

Christian Science of Whidbey meets at 15910 Highway 525, just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road. Sunday school is available for all youths.
