Whidbey student seeks books, cash for Seattle schools

Whidbey Island 11th grader Audrey Neubauer is looking for book and money donations to benefit elementary schools in Seattle with significant library budget cuts.

This is Neubauer’s third year running the project. There are many schools in Seattle which receive no money at all to buy new books and library supplies, hindering their ability to supply their students with a variety of books they will be interested in reading.

Reading for personal enjoyment is an important part of the learning process, especially at the elementary school age, she said.
