Whidbey authors share travel adventures in new book | NOTABLE

Join several authors in a reading and book signing of “Journeys Outward, Journeys Inward: Travel and Transformation,” a new book featuring 10 Whidbey authors on adventuring and travels.

The book is a collection of essays, poems and visual arts from 24 authors who have traveled the world later in life. Authors describe the adventures and challenges of traveling that have enriched their lives.

The book reflects on life-changing travel around the world. Excerpts from travels to South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. are included.

Experience a walk on the wild side in Cambodia, Buddhism in Bhutan, gardens in Normandy, First Nation history in Canada’s Haida Gwaii and reorienting to life on Whidbey Island.

Author and sculptor Penelope Stuart Bourk, also from Whidbey, edited the work. The island authors include: Linda Beeman, Margaret Bendet, Penelope Bourk, Molly Brewer, Kurt Hoelting, Lois Mathews, Dianne Shiner, Tom Trimbath, Lou Vander Woude and Frances Wood.

The reading is open to the public and will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Clinton Community Hall, 6411 Central Ave., Clinton.
