In 1948, Mildred Anderson invited her five brothers and their families to a family get-together on Memorial Day shortly after their mother had died. Anderson continued the tradition, hosting a family reunion every Memorial Day since then. After her death in 2006, Anderson’s daughters, Linda Anderson of Langley and Dorothy Anderson, continued their mother’s tradition. For the 2008 party, only two of Anderson’s brothers were still alive, but all the brothers’ families arrived and vowed to continue the tradition for years to come.
