There will be no turkey time-out for the Mobile Turkey Unit this Thanksgiving.

Founded several years ago by the late Tom Arhontas, the program provides hot Thanksgiving turkey meals to shut-ins and others in need on South Whidbey.

The fate of the program was in doubt after the surprise passing of Arhontas earlier this year, but supporters of the Mobile Turkey Unit have vowed to keep it going. Volunteers are urged to attend an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Eagles Lodge in Langley.

Donations to the program can be made at Wells Fargo Bank.

For information, or to volunteer, call Janice Martinovic at 321-4692.
