Kirk Francis was crowned Mr. South Whidbey 2008 at the annual Mr. South Whidbey Pageant.

The event is the major fundraiser for the Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund.

Good sports and runners-up were Chris Spencer, Tom McCabe, Drew Kampion, Jay Davenny and Bob Dalton.

All six candidates this year raised the bar in fundraising for the Friends fund, having raised the most money to date.

Sue Frause emceed the laugh-filled event that raised a whopping $53,000 for the nonprofit organization which has already spent more than $59,000 on medical and dental bills for islanders-in-need this year.

Each candidate was hugely successful in getting people to give freely to the nonprofit. In the final count they raised over $50,000 to cover medical and dental bills for the South Whidbey residents.
