Local sailor is on deployment

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael C. Foster, son of Konda Kearton of Langley, and more than 7, 500 sailors of the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group relieved the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group as Commander, Task Force 50 and launched its first aircraft sorties from Carrier Air Wing 14 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The USS Ronald Reagan, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, is on its fourth deployment and will help deter destabilizing activities and ensure a lawful maritime order in the Persian Gulf.

Foster is a 1997 graduate of South Whidbey High School and joined the Navy in September 1997.
