Whidbey Island’s mysterious flock of roaming flamingos have landed on the lawn of Wendy Dion and Dan Walker at the Yoga Lodge on Christie Road in Greenbank.

An anonymous message was left in an envelope for them.

“We heard this flock went off-course on their way from Florida to Santa Monica to see your new grandchild and are very tired and stiff. (You can probably notice that by looking at them.) So, they’re stopping at the Yoga Lodge for a retreat and yoga classes,” the note read. “They’re on a strictly algae-and-crustacean diet — they assume that will not be a problem. Don’t fuss about the accommodations — mud is all they need — but, if the temperature goes below 70, you will need to put sweaters on each of them.”

A secret admirer of the Greenbank couple bid $100 at last year’s Whidbey Island Center for the Arts auction to have the couple “flocked” with flamingos.

The couple are the second to host the birds, following an earlier flocking at Useless Bay Coffee Co. in Langley.
