Family and friends of Travis Kenworthy gathered in Scatchet Head to give Kenworthy a great sendoff late last month as the South Whidbey resident got ready to ship out for the Navy.

The sailor, the son of Lynda and Shawn Kenworthy, is a 2009 graduate of South Whidbey High School and plans to make the Navy a career. He hopes to become an electrician, and is currently in basic training at Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command in Illinois.

“We’re very proud of him, making this choice,” said Lynda Kenworthy.
