Bayview farmers market is ready to open on Saturday
April 22, 2010 · Updated 7:43 AM
The South Whidbey farmers market season starts Saturday when the Bayview Farmers Market opens for the 2010 season at Bayview Corner.
Music will be offered the first three weeks of each month. Chef’s demonstrations and other entertainment will be featured on the fourth week.
Saturday’s music will be original and cover songs by Matt Schmiesing, singing vocals and playing keyboard and guitar.
For the third year, the market’s slogan will be “Locavores Can Find It at Bayview Farmers Market.” The slogan was picked to highlight the emphasis on locally raised farm products, and locally produced products and artisan crafts.
The market is a member of the Washington State Farmers Market Association, and this year more than 50 vendors will offer local produce and other farm products, baked goods (including breads, pies, muffins and bars), hot foods and artisan crafts. As the weather warms, more produce — including Washington berries — will be featured. A list of all vendors and more information about the market can be found at the market Web site at www.bayviewfarmers
market.com.
The market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through
Oct. 30.
