March 7, 2011 · Updated 9:17 AM
Whidbey Island’s own Saratoga Chamber Orchestra has announced upcoming auditions for its newly expanded 2011 Young Artists Concerto Competition, previously known as the Young Artists Solo Concert Competition.
The competition, now in its fourth year, will offer accomplished regional music students the opportunity to compete for the top prize of performing a full concerto with the orchestra in a concert slated for April 2012.
Eligibility is open to residents of Island, Skagit and Snohomish counties younger than 21 (as of Jan. 1, 2012).
Preliminary auditions will consist of a submitted CD recording, due April 15. Five finalists will be invited to a live audition on May 21 at South Whidbey High School.
