Artist Roosje Penfold of Langley won the honor of creating this year’s Bayview Farmers Market poster.

The poster features a stylish tree laden with the farm products that are available throughout the year at the market which is prepared to open at the end of April. Market directors hope the colorful poster will become a collector’s item in addition to being a visual reminder of the popular weekly event.

The market runs until the end of October.

Vendors met recently for a work party to get the site ready, followed by an unveiling of Penfold’s poster.

The opening bell for the “rain or shine” market will ring at 10 a.m. Friday, April 29 at the market’s Bayview Corner location.

Penfold said she was happy to be chosen to design the poster.

“The market connects the community ... you just bump into everyone and their dog,” Penfold said. “It is fun. Everyone is looking to the end of April when it will start again.”

Market manager Sharon Warwick said nearly all of the 72 market spaces have been reserved.
