Fringe Festival starts at WICA

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts kicks off the summer season with classes and performances of the Whidbey Island Fringe Festival June 27 through Aug. 7 at the arts center in Langley.

Organizers said the festival will give adventurous artists and audiences opportunities to explore a variety of cultural performances, stage adaptations of texts and other materials, and avant-garde and performance art.

Summer shows include singer Gail Dubrow, Ariel Schmidtke’s “Death Is The Beginning,” “Anne Of Green Gables,” a student show, “Nymbol’s Secret Island,” “The Crucible,” a student show and Tom Churchill’s “West Is West.”
