Author Erica Bauermeister returns to Whidbey for writer's workshop

The author of "The School of Essential Ingredients" will return to Whidbey Island in October for a writer's workshop.

Erica Bauermeister, the 2011 Whidbey Reads selected author, will team with editor Margaret Bendet and poet and author Priscilla Long as part of the Whidbey Island Writers Association’s first annual "Writers Lockdown Retreat." The event, which is titled "First Write the Book! It’s All in the Craft," begins Friday, Oct. 21 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Captain Whidbey Inn in Coupeville.

Early registration is encouraged since only 24 participants may attend. Registration includes three-days of instruction, lodging and all meals.
