Auditions coming for ‘Nutcracker’

Whidbey Island Dance Theatre will hold auditions for the 19th annual presentation of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Island Dance in Clinton.
Approximately 100 roles will be cast with community members of all levels of training. The production needs mice, rats and soldiers, elves, butterflies, bumblebees and forest creatures, plus aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those who want to audition should arrive 30 minutes early to register.
Auditions for ages 6 to 7 are from noon to 12:45 p.m.; ages 8 to 10, 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.; ages 11 to 15, 1:30 to 2 p.m.; ages 15 to adult (Studio 2), 2 to 3 p.m.; tumblers, ages 8 and higher (Studio 4), 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Rehearsals are weekends, beginning late September and continuing through performances, Dec. 9-18.
A participation fee and one weekly dance class are requirements for cast members. For more information, call 341-2221.
