Art contest kicks off

The American Association of University Women invite all island artists of high school age to submit entries for Greenbank Farm’s Loganberry Festival poster.

Entries can be submitted to the student’s high school art teacher by Friday, May 2.

The entries will be displayed at the juried Showcase of the Arts at Greenbank Farm from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

The winning poster illustration will be incorporated in this year’s Loganberry Festival poster. The festival is July 26 and 27.

Guidelines for poster submissions include: unique ideas that might include loganberries, country life, farm and/or festival; submit only artwork, festival info will be added by poster designer; artwork must be suitable for reproduction and scaleable to an

8.5-by-11-inch size (poster will be 8.5-by-14 inches); the winner retains ownership of original art and Greenbank Farm retains publication rights; all entries must be submitted the student’s art teacher or home-schooling teacher.

The winner will earn community recognition, a professional portfolio piece, possible extra credit if approved by the teacher, prize money and festival items that feature the design such as a T-shirt, poster, etc.
