“Snow by Morning,” a concert and carol fest to celebrate the Christmas season, will be presented by the Chanteuse Women’s Choir Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. at the Langley United Methodist Church, 301 Anthes Ave.

Join these local singers for an exquisite concert of traditional and newly composed pieces celebrating the Christmas season.

Under the artistic direction of Choir Director Cheryl Veblen, the women’s choir will share music from many styles, including Psallite by Praetorius, a gorgeous arrangement of The First Noel, intertwined with Pachelbel’s Canon, Apple Tree Wassail, arranged by Stephen Hatfield of Vancouver Island, and an Irving Berlin Medley of Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep, White Christmas, and Happy Holidays.

Piano accompaniment throughout the concert will be provided by Jess Monett with special performances by Emily Dunn Wilder on flute, and Lily Bjork, joining Mrs. Monett, in a piano duet. Immediately following the intermission there will be an audience sing along of traditional carols. Don’t miss this dazzling concert presented by Whidbey Island’s own women’s choir!

Veblen holds a degree in vocal performance and music education from California State University, Fullerton, and has taught in public schools and privately for over 30 years. She was a frequent soloist in the greater Sacramento area prior to moving to Whidbey Island.

As a community choir, Chanteuse seeks to inspire, challenge, and encourage the members and listeners through the finest women’s choral music. The choir members come South and Central Whidbey. Profits from the choir’s performance will be donated to a local charity that supports women.

Suggested donation is $12 adults, $10 seniors and youth, and $5 children under 10. For more information about the upcoming concerts, email chanteuse.wi.@gmail.com.
