Rehearsals are in full swing for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts’ forthcoming Theatre Series, a screen-to-stage production of “The Full Monty,” directed by Elizabeth Herbert.

Musical direction is by Sheila Weidendorf, choreography by Chelsea Randall. “The Full Monty” opens April 5 and runs through April 20; show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees.

In 1997, the British film about six out-of-work steelworkers who had nothing to lose took the world by storm, raking in $256 million worldwide and becoming one of the most successful British films ever made. Now the boys are back, live on stage, only this time, for them, it really has to be “The Full Monty.”

The show runs through April 20, with a special $12 sneak peek preview Thursday, April 4. Get your tickets early, bring some dollar bills, and get ready to have some fun.

Purchase tickets at wicaonline.com, by phone at 360-221-8268, or by visiting the box office. “The Full Monty” is recommended for mature audiences.
